R.J. McConnell
R.J. came to Calgary from Toronto via Regina about seven years ago and has been the band's bassist ever since. He also plays guitar and mandolin and like Brian, is an alumni of the Regina Mandolin Orchestra. In his former life, R.J. was a teacher. Now he is comfortably retired and working on his first novel.
R.J. plays a Fender Jazz Bass with Fender Flatwound strings. He happily uses a Fender Bassman 150 amp and tunes unfailingly, four times a year, at the two equinoxes and the two solstices. Tuning only once a year is far too infrequent for someone with R.J.'s high musical standards.
